โ†ช xel is unusually tall for a miqo'te female. she tends to stand head and shoulders over much of her own race. add on heels and she's very distinctive.โ†ช given her upbringing, she does not hold to the beliefs of nunhs and tias in the least. because she grew up in a mixed race city, xel honestly finds miqo'te culture, both from seekers of the sun and keepers of the moon highly unusual in a way - if not downright unsettling. but she respects the cultures, even if she does not share those beliefs.โ†ช despite the fact that she rubs shoulders with many powerfully political figures, xel would rather avoid such things if she is able to. that being said, however, when placed in a politically charged situation, she tends to pick up nuances and subtleties rather quickly. it's not often that something escapes her anymore and she is quick to point such things out if she must.โ†ช her ears and tail are both highly sensitive and she is prone to shoving hands that attempt to touch her without her permission away in a harsh fashion, if not outright trying to bite them if she must.โ†ช though she has been in many, many battles since she began on her journey as the warrior of light, there are very few scars to be found on her body. in truth, the most prominent ones rest on her side and over the front of her torso. the side one slices from her ribs around to the top of her right buttock, while the other slides over her torso from below her left shoulder, between her breasts, and ends at her sternum. both scars came from her fights against zenos.โ†ช given that she is a ward of house fortemps, xel has come to view edmont as a second father. she is extremely fond of him and his sons and will visit foundation whenever she has an opportunity for any downtime. any visit also includes her traveling to haurchefant's memorial where she often sits and talks to him, telling him of her adventures.โ†ช despite outward appearances and the smile she often has, xel has acquired some mental health issues which she has not addressed. these include depression, anxiety, undiagnosed PTSD, and survivor's guilt. she has also acquired a shorter temper in her time traveling across eorzea and it can affect her profoundly.โ†ช xel's hair has gone white at the tips after the events in norvrandt. she has tried to cover it with dye but it doesn't work. she had noticed it happening during her acquisition of the power of the Lightwardens but she doesn't know if it will stay there. for now, she refuses to speak of it to those that ask her about what happened.โ†ช she has a profound weakness for doman foods after visiting those lands. she's very fond of dumplings and ramen. the food of the auri people is also welcome on her plate; she finds it very appealing.โ†ช between the fact that she runs most places and her magic, xel has the capacity to put away a significant amount of food at any one meal. it can be alarming to those that don't know her. but burning magic takes up energy and after major fights, even if she's not in great shape, she's very insistent on getting herself fed.โ†ช also, after large fights, once she's eaten? she sleeps pretty hard. it's not unusual for her to collapse for ten hours if it's been a long few days.โ†ช xel is extremely naive when it comes to romantic emotions at first glance and she can get very gun shy if someone professes a romantic or sexual interest in her. whether or not this is actually the case or merely an affectation on her behalf is hard to say, however. but she definitely never knows how to handle such things.โ†ช a lot of xel's behavior and views become understandable if one understands she grew up in coerthas. her parents were very firm on propriety and good behavior and they instilled that within her. as a result, xel is very confused and conflicted about her natural instincts versus what she was taught to present as a young woman.โ†ช she writes to her parents in random intervals. sometimes she keeps up letters for a few weeks and sometimes she goes months without writing them. her relationship with them could be called strained to a degree, but she loves them anyways. however, it is difficult for her to speak of them with others.

CHRONICLED

what humble beginnings there are to finding the birth of a star , the manner in which the pressure of outside forces and inner ones can give rise to a blindingly bright soul . such small things they can be and small they were for xel .she was found as a kitten , wandering and alone and crying for her mama by a traveling hyur merchant who took pity on the poor child when he discovered her . she attached rather swiftly to him and any attempts to pass her unto the caste of a miqo'te tribe were met with fierce resistance on her behalf. she did not take well to such things in the least and , at last , he gave up and raised her with his own children . xel grew up never truly wanting for anything and her name - all that she could recall - soon became merely xel instead of x'el in the manner of the seekers .as she grew older , the displays of magic she bore began to manifest and when she was of an age to travel on her own , she went to ul'dah to begin training with the thaumaturges guild at the ossuary . although she showed an amazing aptitude for the destructive powers of a black mage , it was not until she slew ifrit after the primal had been summoned that she began to draw the attention of those in high positions of power . it was by her hand that she turned the tide in many battles , fleeing from ul'dah after the coup and the attempt on the sultana's life , to go to coerthas to plead for aid . it was her hands that ended a thousand years of strife and she gained the friendship and trust of many in the city . she made new friends and learned too that she had grown fond of those in the magnificent territories .from there , xel met the people of doma when they arrived in the lands and aided them in turn , eventually leading her to the far east where she found herself facing an opponent of such power that he was the first person , in many long years , to leave scars upon her flesh from the cut of his blades . freeing those lands from the rule of the garlean empire did not come easily . stranger events began to occur afterwards , leaving her truly aware that things had changed - and not sure of how to handle those changes left her unsure , uncertain . it was to the lands of norvrandt she moved next , learning of the struggles of the people there .it seems that the work of a hero is never finished.
